Quiz #1

Hi Students.

It is time for our first quiz. Please answer the following questions on an A4 size paper and submit to me during the class hours on 21.07.09. Please include your name and ID number.

a) If the average velocity of an object is zero in some time interval, what is the displacement of the object for that interval? Please explain.

b) Two cars A and B are moving in the same direction in parallel lanes along a highway. At some instant, the velocity of car A exceeds the velocity of car B. Does this mean that the acceleration of car A is greater than that of car B? Please explain.

c)A baseball is hit so that it travels straight upward after being struck by the bat. It takes about 3.0 s for the ball to reach its maximum height. Find:
i) The initial velocity of the ball after being hit.
ii) The maximum height reached by the ball.
